The topics are varied, and the target audience ranges from specific people to almost everyone in the greater Cairns community. In many cases, organisations can’t afford publicity, so on Mike’s program, they have an extended period of time to describe what they do for people, and in some cases what they need from the community to assist in their efforts. The Retro 40 looks at music over 40 years of music. We take a chart on a particular year and listen to who made the top of the charts in that year. Take the trip down memory lane and listen to the Retro 40 with Daran Murphy. ABOUT DARAN MURPHY: Daran spent over 35 years as a broadcaster and now a teacher based in the beautiful city of Cairns. I have been collecting and researching music since I was six years old and have always found that living is just not living without music. I thoroughly enjoy listening to Rock classics, pop 60, 70, 80’s and 90’s and love presenting a music history show where we talk about who made the top of the charts in those years. Daran started his radio journey at Radio 10 in Brisbane in 1984 and worked his way up and down the coast. In 2013, he finished his career in Melbourne assisting in the early days on Digital broadcasting. Daran has also spent time working in stations overseas including New York, London, Canada and The Phillipines.

Award Winning Music Producer and Director Joel Devereux and Local Businessman and Prominent Cairns Muso for over 20 years Barry Koch head up the biggest showcase of local talent in North Queensland. Moving the show to an entertainment format with special musician guests on each week including people who work in creative industries, it is a show designed to showcase and assist musicians with their craft, and promotion of their music. Listen to the live show on Sundays from 8pm - 10pm and Repeats on Thursdays from 4pm - 6pm.

Ashleigh plays only Australian music on her show. She likes to give new artists a chance to have their music heard, but plays the odd ‘oldie but a goodie.’ Ashleigh has always had a great love of music. She is a lawyer by day and moonlights as an artist. She therefore appreciates other artists’ musical banquets. Eventually Ashleigh would like to do interviews and live studio performances.
